2024 Safety Culture Survey

2024 Contractor Safety Culture Survey Details:

Survey Goal
Developing and maintaining a strong safety culture is an ongoing journey, and surveys like this one play a vital role in this endeavor. They help us focus our efforts, measure our progress, and identify areas for improvement. The survey allows us to assess the impact on our organizations and the broader industry. It helps us answer questions like, “Have our actions positively influenced safety culture?” and “What steps can we take to enhance it further?” This industry-wide survey will be an invaluable tool for participating member companies to evaluate and strengthen the safety culture within their organizations and our industry.

Survey Details
The 2024 survey will be administered via an email link or in paper format during Q3 of 2024. It will consist of approximately 80 rating scale questions, taking 15 to 20 minutes for each employee to complete. Following completion, participating member companies will gain access to a comprehensive digital dashboard for in-depth analysis of their survey results. The dashboard enables easy comparisons with previous surveys and industry benchmarks.

Who Should Participate
While safety culture is integral to companies involved in natural gas transmission and storage, the survey’s questions encompass broader aspects of safety culture relevant to a wide range of member companies. Whether your employees work in an office, in the field, or on construction sites, the survey can provide valuable insights into how safety is valued, communicated, and emphasized within your organization.

Value to Your Company
The value of the survey lies in how your company utilizes its results to drive tangible improvements in safety culture. Additionally, participating in this consortium survey will benefit from industry-wide benchmarks and best practices, providing invaluable insights for enhancing safety awareness and performance. Moreover, it is important to note that the cost of participating in this survey is significantly lower than conducting a custom survey with similar features.

Confidentiality
Rest assured that the survey will maintain the confidentiality of participating companies and respondents. The results dashboard will only allow access to each company’s individual survey results and blinded, aggregated industry norms. Strict confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements will bind all survey administrators.

Cost
The anticipated cost per participating member company is $6,000 and $7,900 for non-members. To proceed with the survey, we require a minimum of 30 member companies to commit to participation. Considering the substantial costs of conducting a custom survey of this caliber, this represents an excellent value for your organization.

Support Required
Executing a safety culture survey necessitates internal resources. Over approximately four to five months, your organization will need:

  • A dedicated safety culture liaison (1 hour per week, depending on the project phase).
  • Human resources support for employee data collection and hierarchy determination (10-20 hours total, depending on organization size and complexity).
  • Engagement from senior management* and corporate communications to promote survey participation (2 or 3 email communications).
*Your company’s engagement, particularly from senior management, is instrumental in achieving a high survey response rate and developing tailored action plans based on your survey results.
